Roger Sanchez returns with "Spectrum" — his first album in twenty years, and worth every minute of the wait

A Grammy-winning icon, a six-year labour of love, a triple-vinyl release, and a summer that's about to look very different: the house music legend is back.

There are artists who shape a genre, and then there are artists who help define what a genre sounds like to an entire generation of listeners. Roger Sanchez belongs to the second category without question. A Grammy-winning DJ, producer, and label head whose records have moved dancefloors across decades, Sanchez today releases Spectrum — his first studio album in twenty years. It has been six years in the making, built across studios and sessions spanning the UK, Spain, and the US, and previewed by three singles that have steadily raised the temperature ahead of today: "Grinnin'" with Fedde Le Grand, "Come My Way," and "Temptation" with Low Steppa featuring Ragdoll. The album's sonic DNA was significantly shaped by time Sanchez spent in Shoreditch, a period that left unmistakable UK summer influences running through the record's fabric. From there, Spectrum moves exactly as its title promises — across a full range of sounds, from driving club material and peak-time dancefloor cuts to more emotional, atmospheric moments, with lyrics drawn from Sanchez's own personal experiences rather than the kind of broad, crowd-pleasing abstraction that lesser records default to. The collaborator list is a statement in itself: Melanie C, Kele Le Roc, Chico Castillo, Kelli-Leigh, Carnao Beats, and Donae'O among them — a roster that spans genres, nationalities, and generations, and matches the anticipation that has been building around this record for years.

"I've been working on this for the past six years, so it's definitely a labour of love. This project is about music and frequencies and light: everything from the light to the soulful to the club-ready infrared, the emotionally-weighted ultraviolet. That's what 'Spectrum' is all about for me." — Roger Sanchez

One of the album's standout moments is "How Do We Say Goodbye," created with Karen Harding — a vocalist and topliner whose credits include work with MNEK, Armand Van Helden, Rudimental, and Wilkinson, and whose reputation for delivering hooks that stick is well earned. Her vocal on the track brings both an irresistible melodic pull and a genuine sense of nostalgia, rising over a production that moves from trance-like ambience into a powerful, climactic drop — the kind of arc that reminds you why Sanchez built the reputation he has. Beyond the digital release, Spectrum arrives on red transparent triple-vinyl from June 26, designed for both the dedicated collector and the working DJ, with a limited-edition signed artcard and a download code for an unreleased bonus track completing the package. Sanchez is also taking the album on the road throughout the summer: his Flower Power residency at Pacha Ibiza brings a rotating cast of special guests from major house names to album collaborators and rising talents, while the wider schedule takes in major European festivals, Hacienda Classical sets across the UK, and appearances at leading clubs across the continent. After twenty years, the wait is over — and Spectrum makes clear it was never going to be anything less than worth it.
