Loco Dice Connects Hip-Hop Roots with UK Urban Energy on Eyes On Me
The German DJ and producer draws on his early hip-hop background for a percussion-heavy cut that brings UK urban influences into the peak-time club.
Loco Dice returns with Eyes On Me, a new single that reconnects the German DJ and producer with the hip-hop foundations that shaped his early career, while pushing those influences into the territory of contemporary UK urban music and adventurous club sounds.
Built around chunky drums, a lean low end and detailed sound design, the track takes a sample-driven approach that feels both rooted in hip-hop tradition and suited to modern dancefloors. Rather than treating the influence as a stylistic detour, Dice brings it back into the centre of his production, using rhythm and percussion as the main forces driving the record.
That connection runs deep. Before establishing himself as one of house and tech-house's most recognisable figures, Dice was immersed in hip-hop in early-1990s Germany, working as both a DJ and rapper and opening for artists including Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube. The sample-first approach and rhythmic focus heard on Eyes On Me therefore represent a return to a musical language he has known since the beginning.
The track also reflects Dice's longstanding interest in the UK sound. Eyes On Me brushes against grime and contemporary UK urban music without abandoning the physicality of his club productions. Its focus remains firmly on the dancefloor, with stripped-back low frequencies, heavyweight percussion and carefully positioned elements designed to translate on a large system.
The connection between Dice's world and UK grime was already visible on the dancefloor earlier this year. In July, he shared the booth with grime heavyweight Skepta at Hï Ibiza's Club Room during his Más Tiempo residency, bringing together two artists whose respective sounds have developed from very different corners of club culture.
With Skepta's blessing, Eyes On Me takes that meeting of worlds into the studio. The result isn't a conventional crossover record, but a track that allows Dice's hip-hop background, UK influences and modern club sensibility to occupy the same space.
The release follows Hold Up (You Feel That) on Universal Music and extends an active period for Dice following his 2025 album Purple Jam. It also arrives as he continues a busy run of international performances, with dates across Europe and the US throughout the autumn.
Among the upcoming stops are Dallas, Scottsdale and Los Angeles, alongside a Pacha Ibiza appearance with Mau P, a Milan show with Carl Cox and a performance at London's Ministry Of Sound.
For Dice, Eyes On Me ultimately brings several parts of his musical identity together. The hip-hop instincts of his early years remain at the foundation, while the production is shaped for the kind of adventurous, peak-time dancefloors that have defined his career in house and tech-house.
