*Originally built as an unreleased weapon for his DJ sets, Don Diablo’s new version turns A$AP Ferg’s hip-hop anthem into a high-energy electronic collaboration.*

Don Diablo has officially released his reworking of A$AP Ferg’s *Plain Jane*, turning one of modern New York hip-hop’s most recognisable tracks into a club-focused collaboration between two artists from different sides of the musical spectrum.

Released today on Diablo’s HEXAGON label, the track began as something much less ambitious. Diablo originally produced his version purely for his own DJ sets while touring Saudi Arabia with Quavo and Metro Boomin, with no plans to release it commercially.

That changed as the track continued to generate bigger reactions each time he played it. What started as a tool for his sets gradually became one of the standout moments in his performances, prompting Diablo to return to the production and refine it for an official release.

The finished record brings Ferg’s unmistakable vocal together with Diablo’s energetic electronic production, creating a direct collision between hip-hop and the dancefloor. Rather than simply recreating the original, Diablo reshapes its energy for a club environment while keeping the character of the source material intact.

> “I've always been a huge fan of Ferg, and ‘Plain Jane’ is an absolute anthem. I originally made my version as a weapon for my sets while I was touring through Saudi Arabia with Quavo and Metro Boomin. I never really intended to release it, but every time I played it, the reaction got bigger. It just kept growing organically until it became one of the biggest moments in my set. Since then I've been perfecting the record, so the fact that Ferg and I are now able to release it together as an official collaboration feels full circle. Sonically, it's the perfect marriage between where I come from as a producer and where my sound is heading next.” — Don Diablo

The collaboration follows Diablo’s March release with Wiz Khalifa and continues a growing hip-hop connection running through his forthcoming *FLUX* album. The project has already featured collaborations with Wiz Khalifa, Bipolar Sunshine and Pink Sweat$, with *Plain Jane* adding another major name from the hip-hop world to the record.

For Ferg, the collaboration revisits one of his defining records. Originally released in 2017, *Plain Jane* became a signature track in his catalogue and a lasting hip-hop anthem. The original version has surpassed 800 million streams on Spotify, while different versions of the track have collectively passed the billion-stream mark.

That reach makes the new interpretation more than a simple remix. Diablo is taking a familiar hip-hop record and placing it inside the electronic world that has defined his career, while Ferg's original vocal remains at the centre of the track.

The release also reflects the broader direction of *FLUX*, as Diablo continues to expand beyond the boundaries of his electronic roots and work with artists from different musical worlds. With *Plain Jane*, that crossover feels particularly natural: a proven hip-hop anthem, rebuilt as a record designed to hit with the same force on a modern dancefloor.
